Affected epidemic situation of secondary non-ferrous metal industry and resumed production

Since the outbreak of the New Crown epidemic, the short-term difficulties faced by the renewable non-ferrous metal industry are mainly shortage of raw materials, insufficient orders and tight funds. Most companies predict that the decline in revenue and profits in the first half of this year is a foregone conclusion, and more than half of the companies expect the decline to be no less than 30%. In particular, industrial supporting enterprises such as machinery and equipment manufacturing, refractory and refining agent production enterprises are more affected. In March, with the implementation of differentiated prevention and control strategies in different regions, the non-ferrous metal recycling enterprises accelerated their resumption of work and production. According to the follow-up understanding of 118 companies of the Recycling Metals Branch, as of March 23, 81% have resumed work, but the recovery rate is only 50.8%. At present, the epidemic situation in China has been effectively controlled. While strengthening their own prevention and control of the epidemic situation, enterprises have also actively donated money and materials to support Hubei and other regions to fight the epidemic. According to preliminary statistics, the industry's total cash donations totaled 176 million yuan.

The recent spread of the epidemic in Europe and the United States has continued to increase the impact on the global renewable non-ferrous metal industry. According to the understanding of the Recycling Metals Section, as of mid-March, the impact of the epidemic on the United States has not yet fully manifested. In comparison, the impact on East and West Coast enterprises is greater than that in Midwestern enterprises, and the impact on waste recycling enterprises is greater than that in processing enterprises. . The epidemic in Europe is more serious, and Italy, Spain, Germany, and France are all major non-ferrous metal recycling nations, which have a greater impact on the industry as a whole: Italy's Anchitec and SGM companies basically work from home, and workshop staff rotates to work; German recycling companies start The impact of reductions in smelting enterprises is relatively small. ISRI and BIR also canceled and postponed industry meetings scheduled for April and May, respectively. The epidemic not only affected the recycling and processing of recycled metals, but also severely affected downstream demand. Taking the automotive industry as an example, according to the latest media report on March 18, there have been more than 70 auto OEMs in Europe that have discontinued production and will soon cease production; Japan The total production capacity of the five largest automakers from January to April is expected to decrease by 580,000 units. The suspension and reduction of the automotive industry will severely weaken the demand for recycled aluminum.

In short, the epidemic situation is changing rapidly, and it is difficult to accurately determine the extent and duration of the impact on the global industrial chain. 2020 will be an extraordinary year for the non-ferrous metals recycling enterprises.
