The Development Path Choice of China's Aluminum Processing Industry under the Background of Trade War

From 2017, the United States initiated a hearing investigation on China's export of aluminum products, and a few other countries began hearings, investigations. The aluminum processing industry has become the industry which most directly faces trade disputes in China's non-ferrous metals industry. An undeniable fact is that such long-term and repeated use of tariffs and other means of interference has inevitably affected China's aluminum processing industry.

In addition to the obvious external influences, the intrinsic motivation of the industry development is also insufficient and needs to be addressed and urgently solved. According to the National Bureau of Statistics and the Colored Association, in 2018, China's aluminum processing industry achieved a main business income of 893.1 billion yuan, an increase of 3.8% over the previous year; a profit of 25.4 billion yuan, a sharp drop of 31.5% over the previous year; average sales profit rate of 2.84 %, a significant drop of 1.8 percentage points from the previous year. The aluminum processing industry basically earns relatively fixed processing costs as a profit model, and the benefits are relatively less affected by fluctuations in aluminum prices. In the past two years, the industry's average sales profit rate has dropped sharply, which reflects to some extent that the industry's overcapacity and homogenization competition are already very serious.

Generally speaking, the difficulties of China's aluminum processing industry should not be underestimated, but confidence is more unshakable, and enthusiasm can not be relaxed. Industrial development is still in an important strategic opportunity period!

On June 29, President Xi Jinping and US President Trump met in Osaka, Japan. After about 80 minutes of talks, President Xi Jinping and US President Trump agreed that China and the United States should resume economic and trade consultations on the basis of equality and mutual respect. The trade friction between the two major economies of China and the United States has come to an end. However, in the long run, trade friction will always exist. This also makes China's aluminum processing industry clear from another aspect, and must achieve high-quality development in order to enhance its ability to resist fluctuations in the world economy. "Danger" or "opportunity" has never existed independently. Although it faces an unprecedented complicated and grim situation, we have the wise leadership of the party, a huge domestic market with a population of 1.4 billion, and the people's desire to pursue a better life is very strong. The application of aluminum is still very promising.
